Al Harris Library Displays and Exhibits

The Al Harris Library provides a display area for SWOSU-affiliated groups and individuals that may be reserved with library approval for up to 30 days. Displays and exhibits are intended to support the University's mission, programs, and services, as well as foster communication and intellectual thought. Of particular interest are exhibits that promote the library's collections and services.

Application Process and Requirements

  • Fill out the Library Display Application form …
  • If your application is approved, we'll let you know the start and end dates for your display.
  • Your display must fit in the glass display cabinet area at the entrance of the library.
  • Display applications must be received at least 30 days prior to the proposed exhibit start date. With library approval, displays may remain in place for up to 30 days.
  • The library assumes no responsibility for display materials.
  • Commercial messages are not permitted in library displays.
  • Organizations applying for a display must be sponsored by SWOSU and have the approval of the organization's SWOSU sponsor.
  • Individuals applying for a display must be SWOSU students or employees.
  • Displays must contribute positively to the library's environment and adhere the goals of the University's mission statement. Display applicants are strongly encouraged to coordinate their display with campus activities.
  • Displays must be well thought out, be of professional quality, and should represent ways to strengthen partnerships between the library, the University, and the students, staff, and faculty at SWOSU.
  • Displays dealing with a controversial topic must be objective and present both sides of the topic.
  • When the content of a display may not meet the requirements of this policy, library faculty will meet with the Director to discuss the content of the display. Library faculty will evaluate the display's adherence to the Library Display Policy and make a recommendation to the Library Director. The Director's decision whether to permit the display is final.
