BookGrowl

BookGrowl features interviews with scholars, authors, and artists about noteworthy books, films, and music. The interviews are hosted by librarian Frederic Murray.


Borrowing Books and DVDs

Most books and DVDs in the library can be borrowed by SWOSU students, employees, members of the public, and OK-Share card holders with a photo ID. See Circulation: Borrowing, Overdues, & Holds for more information.


COVID-19 Case Statistics

From August 17th, 2020 until May 3rd, 2022, SWOSU released weekly reports on the number of student and employee COVID-19 cases. The counts were based on self-reports to the university made by students and employees, and included all SWOSU locations. The library provided the linked visualizations to communicate the impact of the pandemic on the SWOSU community.


Digital Commons

The SWOSU Digital Commons publishes scholarly and creative works by SWOSU faculty and students. The Digital Commons also provides a wide array of materials celebrating the history of the University and the diverse peoples and cultures of western Oklahoma. To submit materials to the Digital Commons, contact the Archives and Special Collections Dept.


Huddle Room

The Al Harris Library’s Huddle Room is a collaboration space for the SWOSU community. The Huddle Room features wall-to-wall dry erase boards, a collaboration table with a PC and large monitor, a webcam for online conferencing, and seating for small groups.


Library Logins & Remote Access

SWOSU students and employees have 24/7 access to the library's digital resources. Some of the library's online resources require that you login before you can use them. Students and employees: Your Library Login is GoSWOSU. Preceptors and emeriti: See the information under "What's my Library Login?".


Media Studio

The Al Harris Library's Media Studio is available to help students and faculty with course-related A/V projects. The Studio has video cameras, a green screen, a teleprompter, and other advanced A/V tools. Fill out the Media Services Project Form to get started.


Meeting Rooms

Study rooms and carrels are available on a first-come, first-served basis. See the Meeting Room Guidelines for details.


OK-Share Statewide Library Card

OK-Share is a cooperative program among Oklahoma's public and private college and university libraries which permits higher education students, faculty, and staff to borrow library materials from any OK-Share library.

PCs, Laptops, and Multimedia Equipment

The SWOSU Library has PCs and laptops with MS Office available for library users. Laptops, cameras, audio recorders, headphones, graphing calculators, and more can be checked out with a photo ID at the Al Harris Library Circulation Desk.


Photocopiers

Photocopiers in the Al Harris Library are located in the Reference Area and on your left when you enter the building. Copies are 10 cents per page.


Printing

You can print from any library-owned PC or laptop to a monochrome printer at the Al Harris Library's Circulation Desk. There's no charge for monochrome printing but we may prohibit printing that's excessive or that has no academic purpose. Pick up your printing in the wire tray at the Circulation Desk.


Purchase Requests

We welcome your suggestions for books and other materials which support SWOSU's mission and stimulate reading and research. To submit your request, fill out the Purchase Recommendation Form.


Reserves

To place course materials on Reserve, fill out the online Reserves Form or download the form and email it to the Circulation Services Coordinator.


Scanners for Print and Microforms

If you need to scan or digitize either print or microform materials, the Al Harris Library has scanners which you can use at no charge. Contact us via Ask a Librarian for details.


Showcase

A continuing series of presentations, lectures, and concerts by notable scholars and performers brought to you by the SWOSU Library.


Tenure and Promotion Documents Digitization

If you're a SWOSU faculty member, the library will digitize your tenure and promotion documents at your request.


Vending Machines

Vending machines with drinks and snacks are located on the south end of the first floor of the Al Harris Library.


Wi-Fi

SWOSU has campus-wide Wi-Fi for guests, students, and employees. If you're a guest, connect to SWOSU_Guest. No login is required. Students: Login to SWOSU_Students with your GoSWOSU login. Employees: Login to SWOSU_Staff with your GoSWOSU login. Use of the Wi-Fi is subject to the Computing Policy.
