Use the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) thesaurus to get definitions of medical terms, and to discover the best search terms for finding relevant articles in the MEDLINE biomedical journal database.

The MeSH thesaurus is a controlled vocabulary produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. MeSH terms are used for indexing, cataloging, and searching for biomedical and health-related information and documents. MeSH provides a consistent way to find content with different terminology but the same concepts. MeSH terms are arranged in a hierarchical structure so that broad searches will retrieve articles indexed with more narrow terms.
