Children in the Libraries

 

SWOSU Libraries collections and services are developed for the support of students, faculty, and staff of the university. Therefore, not all materials may be appropriate for K-12 students. The library operates in an adult, unsupervised environment for the purpose of academic research. Library staff cannot be responsible for unsupervised children.

Children under the age of 18 are welcome and encouraged to use the library as long as they are accompanied by a parent, adult caregiver, or under the appropriate supervision of a public school or university-sponsored activity arranged with the library prior to use. Unsupervised children will be asked to contact a parent to come get them. If a parent cannot be contacted, library staff will notify the Campus Public Safety office.
