Purpose

The Southwestern Room is a special collection for Southwestern Oklahoma State University materials which must be kept in a controlled environment for preservation.

These materials include annual catalogs, commencement programs, student publications, histories, college annuals, photographs, and correspondence.

Security

Materials in the Southwestern Room may not be taken from the Southwestern Room without permission of the library director.

The Southwestern Room is kept locked at all times. The library observes archival practices to preserve the integrity of the materials housed in this collection.

Acquisitions

The library acquires materials for the Southwestern Room through the generosity of SWOSU alumni, friends, and University departments. All gifts become the property of the University.

The library has authority to discard or add materials in accordance with the Library Collection Development Policy. An attempt will be made to acquire current materials. Publications are usually cataloged in the on-line catalog and digitized for the SWOSU Digital Repository.

Retention

Copies will be retained of all SWOSU publications. Copies may be added or deleted as they become available or requested.

Usage

You must sign in at the Circulation Desk to use the Southwestern Room.

You must leave a photo ID at the Circulation Desk if you are permitted to borrow a Southwestern Room key. Alternatively, a library employee will remain with you while you are in the Southwestern Room.

If you need to photocopy Southwestern Room materials, ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk. To help preserve Southwestern Room materials, library employees may photocopy the materials for you.

Southwestern Room materials may be borrowed for exhibition or classroom use with the permission of the library director. Otherwise, Southwestern Room materials do not circulate.
